September 2024

September 2024

20 September: Meet the LGBT+ team

Meeting and socialising with other LGBT+ and bringing along a friend who supports us and our identity. We will engage in fun, interactive, ice-breaker games to bring us together and get to know each other.

27 September: Creating a group art piece

Together we will create wall-art by each decorating a small canvas that represents ‘our’ holistic identity. We’ll then glue each canvas in turn to create a ‘wall’, which we’ll donate to a good cause.

October 2024

4 October: Quiz night with prizes

We’ll group into teams of 2 or 3 and correctly answer as many questions as possible to win. The questions will be tailored to the age and ability of our group. Prizes will be for those in first, second and third place.

Homework: Top 3 songs list.

11 October: Playlist music night

Getting to know each other through listening to each other’s favourite music. Share your top 3 favourite songs and we’ll share with each other why we like them.

18 October: My identity outfit

We’re going to have our own fashion show. Come dressed up in an outfit that reflects ‘who you feel you are or want to be’. We can create new designs by sketching outfits.

25 October: Queen of the Scream Scene

Young people can get festive in preparation for the spookiest night of the year. Create a scary, fun or funny design for your pumpkin. Carve a pumpkin with our expert pumpkin-carver to celebrate Halloween. Tell us about any allergies you may have in preparation for next session.

November 2024

November 2024

1 November: Half-term holiday

No session this week.

8 November: Mindful eating

Young people will have an opportunity to try variety of tasty and nutritious foods to develop healthy eating habits. We use all our senses, experiment with new items - plus you can bring in your favourite item of food to share with others.

Homework: drawing a picture of the brain, adding personal information, symbols or colours that represents us. (Don’t put your name on the picture!)

15 November: ‘Guess Who!’

Young people will bring their drawings of the brain and place them on the table to show others. We guess from the drawings whose drawing it is. We can then talk about why we guessed which picture represented each person and discuss the imagery used to form our own pictures.

22 November: Mindful movement and breathing

Young people will learn about breathing techniques and how we can regulate ourselves in emotional situations. Taking control of our body and learning how to keep fit through these simple movements.

29 November: Group consultation session

Young people and the LGBT+ team will work together to choose activities for the following term and identify the resources needed. We’ll plan a talent show. Decide on a film we want to watch on movie night and choose snacks (film must be suitable for persons under 16).

6 December: Making Christmas decorations and planning the talent show

Young people will decide who’s taking part in the talent show and what resources they will need. This is not a competition but an opportunity to celebrate what we can do. We will be making our own Christmas decorations (materials will be provided).

13 December: Movie night

Tonight we’ll enjoy watching he film we chose. Snacks and soft drinks will be provided (allergy aware)..
