Public Protection (PP) Cymru

You will need a Public Protection (PP) Cymru online account to apply for:

  • Hackney carriage (Taxi) vehicle licences (new, renewal or transfer) 
  • Private Hire vehicle licences (new, renewal or transfer)
  • Temporary Event Notices (TENs)

Applying for, renewing and transferring other licenses will soon be available through PP Cymru.

How to sign up or log in

You will need your email address to sign up for or to log in to your PP Cymru account.

Account holders living outside of Denbighshire

If you live outside of Denbighshire, you will need to type your address when providing your contact details instead of using the address look-up.

Account verification

When registering for a PP Cymru account, you will be sent an email to verify your account. Please follow the instructions in this email. Registering will not be complete until you have verified your account. 

You may need to check your email's spam or junk folder for the verification email. 

Passwords

We recommend that you make a note of the password you use as you will need it for future applications

Forgotten passwords

If you lose or forget your password, please use the 'Forgot Password' link when trying to sign into your account. 

Uploading additional documents

If you need to provide additional documents for a PP Cymru licence application, you will be able to upload a photo, scanned image or document from the device you use.

Please make sure that the images or documents you upload do not have an underscore (_) in their file name. Images or documents that have an underscore in their file name cannot be uploaded. For example:

  • a file with the name; ‘Document_1’ cannot not be uploaded.
  • a file with the name; ‘Document 1’ can be uploaded.

You can re-name the image or document on your device.

Applying for a licence on a mobile device

If you are applying for a licence on a mobile device, you may need to change to the desktop view to display some of the options.

Android devices

If you are using an Android device (e.g. a Samsung or Google phone) and the list of applications is not displayed, please take the following steps:

  1. select the menu (three dots) icon
  2. select ‘Desktop site’ from the menu

You may need to zoom out, but the applications list should now display.

Apple devices

If you are using an Apple device (e.g. an iPhone) and the list of applications is not displayed, please take the following steps:

  1. select the 'AA' icon on the search bar
  2. select ‘Request Desktop Site'

You may need to zoom out, but the applications list should now display.
