Lifelong Links

Lifelong Links works with care experienced children and young people from Denbighshire to keep, or to rebuild relationships with people that are, or were important and special to them.

When children and young people enter the care system, they can lose touch with people that were very important in their life. These important people can include:

  • family
  • friends
  • neighbours
  • staff in school
  • foster carers
  • social workers
  • anyone that they have built a good relationship with growing up, and would like to continue your relationship with, or to reconnect with

How does it work?

Lifelong links is guided and lead by the young person, and so makes sure that the young person is involved throughout all of the stages, and that they identify the people that they would like to make contact with, and who they would like involved in their plan. This process is done in a planned and structured way and looks at everyone’s safety.

Lifelong links helps to build lasting relationships for children and young people, and could also help to;

  • know more about their own journey and understand their narrative better
  • have a better sense of identity, and build genuine connections with people
  • have people to turn to and be there for them. And to have someone to share happy moments with
