You can enrol your child in a reception class, at either an infant or primary school, in the September following the child’s 4th birthday.
The closing date for reception place applications for children born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 was 18 November 2024.
If you've already applied, we'll let you know the outcome by 16 April 2025.
Applying after the closing date
If you apply after the closing date, your application will be processed after all the on-time requests have been dealt with. This means your preferred school may be full by the time we process your application and, for this reason, we recommend that you name more than one preference when applying.
Late applications will be considered together, regardless of date received, against the oversubscription criteria detailed in the Denbighshire Schools guide.
If you make any amendments to an on-time application after the closing date, we will consider this as a new application which will replace anything previously received and will be recorded as late.
How to apply for a school place
You will need an Education Self-Service account to apply for a school place. You can create your Education Self-Service account before an application period opens.

Changing an application after it has been submitted
After submitting a school admissions application, if you’d like to make a change there will be a short period where you can unsubmit your application through your Education Self-Service account and submit a new one. If the option to unsubmit an application is not displayed, you will need to complete an online form to let us know about a change to a school admissions application.
Applications received within the in-round period are classed as on-time. You can make a change to an application within this period and it will still be considered on-time.
However, if you make any changes to an on-time application after the closing date, we will consider this as a new application which will replace anything previously received and will be recorded as late.
