Introduction to Llangollen

Llangollen is a popular town with tourists on the banks of the river Dee.

The estimated resident population for the area is approximately 4,000.

Llangollen is well known for the annual International Eisteddfod music festival, which takes place in July. Further tourist attractions are the Llangollen to Corwen Heritage Railway and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Four Great Highways

Project overview: Enhancement of Llangollen's Four Great Highways to include a viewing platform, improved interpretation and public realm.

Project overview: Improve town links to and from the Wenffrwd Nature Reserve and the Health Centre as well as paths and cycle improvements within the Reserve.

Project overview: Boost the visitor experience to include entrance improvements and outdoor enhancements.

Horseshoe Falls

Project overview: Improvement of visitor infrastructure at Horseshoe Falls to include refurbished conveniences, a catering facility and pedestrian improvements around the viewing area.

Project overview: Upgrade of public realm.

Ysgol Bryn Collen / Ysgol Gwernant, Llangollen

Project overview: The project will provide upgraded facilities on the shared site of Ysgol Bryn Collen and Ysgol Gwernant in Llangollen. Feasibility work is currently being progressed.

Funding: Welsh Government Sustainable Communities for Learning and Denbighshire County Council.

Brook Street/Pengwern

Project overview: Active Travel Route scheme. The project was prioritised following the completion of the Llangollen AT Masterplan and is currently moving on from the outline design phase to the detailed design phase.
