The Data Protection regulations give you a right to find out what information we hold about you. It governs the way we collect and use personal information. This can include your name, address, date of birth, and information about the services you receive from the Council. The regulations give you the right to make sure that the information we hold about you is accurate, and to have it amended if necessary.
How do I request information?
You can only request information that is about you. You cannot request information about somebody else, even if they are a relative, unless we have their permission.

Try to include as much detail as you can in your request (e.g. dates, council related reference numbers, your address), to help us identify the information you are requesting.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (external website) is the UK’s independent authority set up to enforce laws relating to public access to information. They provide advice to the public, and to organisations like the Council, that hold personal information and official records.
