Standards for council housing

When you move into a council property, you can expect it to meet certain standards of cleanliness and health and safety.

We check all our properties to make sure that they are clean and in a good state of repair. This is called the Lettable Standard.

Before you move in to a council property, we will carry out all the repairs that are needed so that the property is fit to live in.

Some properties may need some non-urgent repair work that does not put your health and safety at risk. In these cases, we will tell you about the work that is needed before you move in, and will carry out the repairs after you have moved in.
