Bulky item collections

Coronavirus update

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions and to ensure the safety of our employees, we are running a reduced bulky item collection service that will only collect a limited range of items. As this is a reduced service, you may need to wait up to 21 days for a collection.

Examples of  items that can be collected from our reduced bulky item collection service are:

  • Wooden bed Frames
  • Metal bed Frames
  • White electrical items (excluding commercial fridges)
  • Household electrical items  
  • Wooden, plastic and metal furniture

Some examples of items that cannot be collected at the moment are (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Mattresses
  • Divan Bed Bases
  • Sofas (fabric & Leather)
  • Any furniture items that have a fabric or leather covering
  • Refuse in sacks
  • Soft furnishings
  • Carpets and rugs
  • Trampolines

You can contact our Call Centre on 01824 706000 to book a collection or to find out whether or not we can collect an item.

More items will be accepted as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and working with us during these circumstances.

Donate where possible

If your items are of a good enough quality you may want to consider donating them to family, friends, neighbours or a local charity/community group instead.

British Heart Foundation

You can drop items off at British Heart Foundation shops and donation banks or arrange a free collection from your home.

Charity Shops

Many charity shops accept donations of household furniture or electrical goods that they can re-sell. You can find a charity shop near you that re-sell a range of goods on the Charity Retail Association website.

Freecycle is a non-profit web based group which allows residents to advertise their items free of charge. Freecycle groups match people who have things they want to get rid of with people who can use them.

How much does it cost?

You can request collection of up to 6 items at £3 per item, with an administration charge of £8.

Where to leave your items

All items must be left at the front of the property in an easily accessible place. Our refuse team do not collect the item(s) from inside the property.

What happens to the bulky items you collect?

Items collected are taken to the CAD Recycling Depot on the Colomendy Industrial Estate and will be recycled if suitable.
